The tour is well thought of with respect to the route with an excellent coach. The route is quite scenic and we got a pretty good weather throughout the day. We had few major issues though. At the first stop my wife and my 3 year old boy was locked out in the bus. The driver did not check that everybody had left from the upper deck. My toddler was sleeping and it took her few mins to pick him up with the bag and get down the stairs to avoid bumping into other passengers. I got down first and was waiting for her with my elder one when the guide started walking and taking the group with him. The driver got out and locked the bus from the other side door. I did not see him leave. She was locked out with my 3 year old inside. I was looking for the driver and the guide had already started walking and disappeared. I lost the guide and then had to find the guide to a 5 mins walk with my 5 year old. He called the driver to unlock the bus to get her unlocked. This unnecessarily caused us a lot of stress and wasted our 25 mins and we were not able to see the rose garden and the old town.
Liechtenstein trip was good and we got enough time to wander around. The key highlight was Heidiland but the main access road was blocked. The tour operator did not get prior notification of the road block so had to take a detour. When we arrived at Heidiland, after 10 mins the guide told us that we have to go back to the bus as few passengers had to catch a train to Munich and they were getting late. Although i understand 1 passenger had to catch a train, he should have kept enough margin and it did not feel that it was okay to cut everybody's trip short and asking us to rush back including elderly people and those with children. We did not get enough time to watch the view or go and see the Heidi house. We only managed to get few pictures. With two young kids, it was panic to get back to the bus running the entire 6 mins walk. The guide was knowledgeable and has a good sense of humour. If only he could be organised to check everybody and keep everybody together and give enough time to view the attractions.
It was a nice tour but lacking in several places. Like other tours we passed through many towns on our way to the two destinations for this tour. But unlike other similar (and subsequent) tours, there was no mention of the town name, its importance to the area. Very disquieting. We also lost A LOT of time at the first destination which caused our a shortened second destination stay...missing our intended purpose. Given the circumstances, it would have been nice to extend the tour to accommodate the lost time.
The destinations and overall day was good. But and there is always a but, too little time in Liechtenstein and too much time in Heidiland. Liechtenstein has a little tourist's train that would have been nice to do, at least to see more than rows of high-in shopping. Now if shopping is your thing good place to do. Less tax.
Heidiland long walk on unpaved path from Bus to top of hill--Heidiland. Good view, gift shop. A few buildings. OK but everwhere in the area is a good view. We missed a stop on return trip because of police action on our planned return route.
This tour was informational, the scenery was incredible, and our tour guide, Walter, was very good, with a great sense of humor He was informative, but for those whose focus was photography versus facts, he was understanding, and he kept the Swiss flag up so we could see where he was headed. The sites, including the rose garden, were beautiful! Heidiland was as I expected, in terms of the sites, buildings and gift shop expense, but being able to experience the beauty of the Alps, as described in the book, was what I had intended for the tour, and the experience more than lived up to my expectations. Leitchtenstein was a nice surprise of beautiful, contemporary sculptures along the main shopping street. It was a very relaxing way to spend the day in Switzerland!
Our guide Marcelo was very friendly and knowledgeable. Tour around Zurich shows all the main sights. The village of Rappersweill is beautiful. Very long drive to Liechtenstein and when you arrive there’s nothing to see except 2 gift shops. A bit disappointing. Heidiland is just what you imagine of Switzerland. Overall a good tour.
Our tour guide was very nice but once off the bus not everyone could hear what he was saying. There was a group of 40 people and we were strung out walking around. Our city tour consisted of one stop where we had a 5 minute talk. We were given a time to be back at the bus at each of our 4 stops. 75 of us rushed back to be there on time but the others did not. This was particularly a problem at lunch. We only had 35 minutes and the restaurant that we stopped at did not have the personnel to serve everyone on time. After waiting 20 minutes to have our order taken, we went to the counter and ordered the only made sandwich left so we split it and were told we could not sit down since our food was take out. We were at the bus at 1:30 as told and waited in the rain for another 15 minutes until the other people showed. Then we walked for 10 minutes in the rain to get to the bus. I have to say the scenery was beautiful.....however, there were lots of miles with no commentary.
Tour basically has 4 segments: Zurich, Rapperswil, Leichenstein, and Heidi village. Middle 2 quite interesting. Heidi village provides opportunities for nice scenic photos of the Swiss countryside, so worth visiting even if you are not into Heidi that much. Guide was so-so competent, but did not seem that enthusiastic about her job.
