Good driving from Vienna and back. Vienna guide was very clear. Once we got to Prague, it was a 'tornado' experience. One either takes photos and miss out on commentary at next stop by local guide or stay with the guide and not take photos. We did have an hour at the end to ourselves though. I was very disappointed that this tour did NOT provide a dropoff service. It is the ONLY Viator tour I've been on ( various South African tours, Budapest tour and various Croatian tours) that does not pick up and drop off customers. This information was conveyed to me on the morning of my tour. I picked a Viator tour to Prague as I am a single female traveller wanting to feel safe in a foreign country. I felt let down. Otherwise, this is a good tour to get a feel for a place.
The sightseeing tour to Prague from Vienna through this company was terrible from the beginning to the end. First off, people haphazardly got on the bus with no one checking that they were on the correct bus-- and as it turned out, several people were not so we had to stop to let them off. Secondly, your tour says clearly it is not appropriate for people who have walking problems, yet we had someone who could not keep up on our tour and walked with a cane and as a result, it ruined it for the rest of us. We were told we would stop for a short break for the driver in the morning and in the afternoon. In the morning, we were told to grab a short snack because we would be walking for 1.5 hours nonstop. So I grabbed a light snack. Upon arrival in Prague, our tour consisted of driving past places quickly and being told what they were-- we did the Vienna Hop On Hop Off buses earlier in the week and it was great because the driver paused to let us take photos-- but there was no opportunity to take photos on the Prague tour as it was so fast. Even worse was that the driver was trying to tell everything in Spanish and English so often we were past the building before he got around to telling us about what we were supposed to see. We were told to meet at the horse in front of the museum but they drove by so fast and because it was behind construction that no horse was even visible. When we got to Prague, we had almost no free time and were not even allowed to stop and take photos except at designated spots for 20 seconds. So, in the end, we were not able to appreciate what we did see. We ended up delayed on even beginning the tour because of the lady with the cane. We were given less than an hour of free time to explore-- but during that free time we also had to make our way to the horse statue which was a good 20-30 minutes away from where the shops were. We also had to make our way back to the shops and restaurants. So in short, we had about 20 minutes to buy anything we wanted/ needed and if there were lines in places, forget it. When we returned to the bus, we had not eaten-- again 20 minutes free time -- and thought we were going to stop again so driver could rest and we could grab something to eat. It was 5.5 hours in the bus on the way back to Vienna. We stopped at a closed restaurant and switched drivers but we were not allowed off of the bus. This is unacceptable. The tour guide should have either allowed us enough time to eat, told us to grab something to eat since we weren't stopping or stop so we could grab something to eat. In short, this was an entire day wasted because I didn't feel like I was able to really see or appreciate Prague and then I paid to be uncomfortable for hours on end, too.
The bus which we traveled on was extremely uncomfortable -- we felt beat to death by the time we returned to Vienna. There was nothing luxury about our coach. Also, we could not understand/hear our guides. They were speaking in English and Spanish and we could not distinguish one language from another.
Despite the rain that began in Vienna and continued into Prague and back, my wife and I enjoyed our trip. Prague is a beautiful place. My regret is that I should have planned to visit for a couple of days instead of doing a day trip. the success of the trip was boosted by our guide Claudia and driver Eugene, both of whom were outstanding ambassadors of the company. Thanks for a great trip
I did a few cities on this holiday in addition to Prague. Vienna itself, Zagreb and Dubrovnik. Although the day trip was well organized, I thought Prague was far too over crowded. The walking tour and what we saw were fine for 1 day. I enjoyed the Charles bridge. However there were no good photo ops simply cos we walked on the bridge too fast without stopping for photos and there were far too many people in Prague so difficult to take pics.
I preferred the other cities I visited to Prague.
The quality of this trip is not the fault of the operator or Viator:
IMO, this bus trip option should not exist.
We started out at 7:15am. Almost 2 hours into the bus trip the road just into Czech Republic was closed. I told the operator and bus driver I knew the road was closed, I used Waze. Neither of them had heard of Waze.
Regardless we had to back-track at least 1 hour, go to a different road that lead to a major freeway. Now construction. Lots and lots of stop-n-go traffic due to construction.
The 7:15-11:14am bus trip turned into 7:15am-2pm! You got it, 7 hours on the bus.
The local Prague tour guide quickly walked us through the 4 hour tour in 2.5 hours with 40 minutes of free-time. We had a lot of older folks on the trip and they barely kept up.
Prague is beautiful. By far the prettiest and most interesting city I have ever seen.
We really liked the Vienna tour guide and the local Prague tour guide, but the bus must die. A bus, during peak summer vacation time, is such a horrrrible bad idea.
This tour should be changed to a train. The train travels 150mph, 2 hours and Vienna-Prague. The Prague Central Train Station is only a 10 minute walk from the end of the tour horse statue/museum.
Highly recommend this day trip, guide can't quite remember his name was excellent, very friendly and full of interesting facts which he shared with us all along the route. City itself is very beautiful. The only down side was it was a very long and tiring day but we knew to expect this, nevertheless, it was so worth it and we thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this trip.
