My family of 5 travelled to SF to do this tour, confirmed weekly between booking and April and the tour date of 8/3 and was told they would provide the time of arrival 24 hours before. I called the day before and they didn't have it. We checked into our 600 hotel after traveling 700 miles and was told by 4:30 PM that afternoon we would receive an email of where to go and when. We did not. We called continuously until finally someone answered the phone. She stated that they had a malfunction and they never had tickets for us. We immediately tracked down the Gray Lines booth at the pier and the woman could not have been more rude and continued to state that they just sold something they didn't have and it was my fault for going through a third party. Since then, I have attempted to contact Viator and Trip Advisor and have been unable. To date all I've been able to contact my credit card company to report this FRAUD as I had paid this in full back in April. I plan to file a suit against all of them for the expenses associated in getting to SF and staying at a ridiculously expensive hotel to be near by for the early am departure. Absolute insanity and no human to speak to about it expect for some incredibly uncaring rude clerk in a kiosk in SF. Unbelievable travel experience. Don't trust this company!!!
I already submitted a review , stating that we booked this trip in May. We were leaving Tues. at 11:35 PM for Newark. The company changed the schedule on Aug. 3. We felt that this was wrong. Our tour was over on Sunday Aug.5, EVE, Therefore , Mon was ideal. for an all day tour. Luckily, we had the red eye flight.
We liked our driver, Joann.
Our driver was very knowledgeable about the area from San Francisco to Muir Woods. The only issue was a mix up when an earlier driver for Viatar took our tickets for Muir Woods leaving us with a 1/2 hour wait before we could get into the park. It would have been better if our driver would have given us some information as to the what we were about to see in the Muir woods.
This was a full day trip and was great. Alcatraz was sold out so we did the day trip and it worked out great. Follow the instructions on where to get your vouchers and where to meet. They spell it out. Do not just go to the Alcatraz Landing and stand in line. You have to get your vouchers at Pier 41 first. Then we had to Uber to Union Square to catch the bus for Muir Woods and Sausalito. Joe the Bus Driver was great and very informative. Muri Woods was amazing. Sausalito was fun but wish we had a little more time there (maybe select the boat return to Fishermans Wharf instead of the bus if you want more time in Sausalito. Overall, great time.
This tour was exactly what we were looking for, but it was a bit rushed. Alcatraz was awesome! We picked up our vouchers for Alcatraz the day before our tour. On the day of we did have to wait in another line to receive our actual tickets to board the ferry to Alcatraz. Muir Woods was awesome but we felt the time we had there was too short. 1 hour and 15 mins wasn’t enough time to really enjoy the Woods. I wish we would have had more time to spend there. Sausalito was a neat little area. Make sure to get ice cream at Lapperts. If you want more than the 1 hour you get there, opt to go back to Fisherman’s Wharf via the ferry for an additional $12/pp. it’s worth it.
We had a great time, but it was quite disorganized. When we booked this tour, the web site stated this tour included hotel pick up. I see that this is now changed on the web site, and it had changed when we arrived for our tour. We had to provide our own transportation to the pier for the Alcatraz portion, and then provide our own transportation to the Gray Line office near Union Square for the afternoon part of the tour. This part of the day was very confusing, as we were told three different things by three different Gray Line employees. The first person told us to be at the Union Square office by 1:30, the second person told us to be at the Gray Line office near Fisherman's Wharf by 1:00, and the third person told us to be at the office by Union Square by 2:15. Despite this, we had a good day. The Alcatraz portion of the tour is amazing, and Muir Woods is beautiful. Our tour guide, Tony, was entertaining.
