Hello. Just wanted to say that this was my first time in Italy and this trip was disappointing in several ways. Not sure why some people gave it five stars. The free lunch was horrible and definitely not worth the money. The service at the restaurant along with the food was poor. Also there was very little time spent on the island before turning right back around and returning from the trip.
Boat ride around the island which was an additional fee was the highlight of the trip and was not even included. Seems like most of the money goes towards the transportation.
We have traveled all over the world and used Viator as a platform. They are not the tour company. This is just a booking. The other trips while in Rome were amazing to Tuscany etc. However, this for 345 US was the worst day I have ever spent. The guide was a lovely w an Italian company. You take a bus drive for hours stop at a local convenience type store get to Naples and board a common boat that was packed. Get to the port in Capri which is a pretty seaside fishing town. Can either buy another ticket 30 Euros each to Blue Grotto, lift ride at top extra, boat ride extra or you sit an shop. The meal was terrible and I hate reviewing like this. The seafood gritty and we could not eat it, salad okay, and had to purchase drinks. So, basically the 343 was to get you there w/some interesting facts from our lovely guide. We stopped on the way back in a convenience type store that I am sure she gets a commission on. That is fine, but all very common. Of all of our tours this was a terrible day spend. Money is no object...it was just terrible day. You either shop or add on the extras. Quite frankly Blue Grotto looked lovely but should have been included or you do nothing but shop in mostly inexpensive tourist shops. I would never recommend this trip instead book day to Tuscany lunch at the Villa. OUTSTANDING!
The Capri Day Trip was probably the highlight of our Italian vacation. We loved every minute of it - even the bus ride! Our tour leader Christina was EXCELLENT - she is brilliant, a multi-lingual expert of the Gulf of Naples and Italy in general. She is very sweet and knowledgable - she can speak English, French, Italian, Spanish, and probably more languages. She made us feel very safe and taken care of. Do not pass up the opportunity to go to Capri - it is truly amazing and breathtaking.
We didn't opt for the tour of the Blue Grotto - instead, we went up to Anacapri and took the Cable Car up to the top - what a view! We had a drink and took in the sights in this amazing hidden gem.
Lunch was good, it wasn't your typical gourmet Italian cuisine, but for an included lunch it was certainly great.
We took a boat ride around the island of Capri which was so amazing to do, and what a way to see the other parts of the Island and bask in the hot Italian sun! We had great company on this boat ride, it was a wonderful add-on to take part in.
Not to worry about comfort stops - we took one break on the way to Naples and then another stop on the way back to Rome. We could grab a quick lunch or coffee, use the restroom, etc. It was perfect!
The day was truly the highlight of our trip and we will never forget how happy, and thankful we were for visiting such a beautiful place.
Please, if you have the chance, book this tour!! I can guarantee that if you take the cable car and the boat ride on the island, you will have a wonderful time and bring home so many happy memories.
PS. Buy wine at the lunch place and bring it on board the boat for the boat ride - such a great idea that a few of us travellers did!
So I will start with the positives. Capri was stunning and I'm so happy I got to see it in the short time I was in Italy. Transportation was made simple and I didn't feel at all stressed getting to and from.
For the negatives, being such a long day and having such a short time on Capri, I didn't understand the rest stop that we made. I was jetlagged and planned this trip knowing I could catch up on some sleep on the bus ride, but as soon as I fell asleep I was told I had to get off the bus for the 30 minutes we were at the rest stop. I'd rather spend that 30 minutes on the island!!
We had a very large group and I felt like there was a lot of wasted time trying to gather everyone up throughout the day. Again, you're on the island for such a short time, so I was frustrated by this.
For a steep price, I expected more. We were told at the beginning of the tour that we'd get a panoramic view of the island. Come to find out once the time came, we had to pay 11 Euro to take a chairlift to see the panoramic view. I felt like for the price I paid, this should have been included or at least told in the tour details that this was excluded.
Lunch was the most forgettable I had in Italy not bad but not what I would have chosen. I would have rather they didn't include lunch, gave us an hour back for free time to get lunch of our choice, and instead include the chairlift or the blue grotto in the price of the tour.
I think this would be a great day trip for someone who wants to squeeze Capri in and doesn't want the stress of planning how to get there, where to get lunch, etc... For me, I wish I had saved the money, taken the high speed train to Naples and taken the ferry on my own and I would have gotten much more time on the island for a cheaper price.
