This was a great tour for us. We went on Dec. 31st, and our guide mentioned several times how lucky we were to have little traffic or other tourists. This tour typically has 30 - 40 people per our guide's information and there were only 9 of us that day. Nice! The sites we visited were beautiful and well worth this short tour length. For us, we really only cared about seeing Reclining Buddha amazing!, but the other two temples were equally impressive and worth visiting.
Note: You'll visit a gem store at the end of the tour. We had no clue we'd end the tour here, but if we had, we would have brought more money. If you are looking for gold, diamonds, gems jewelry galore!, handbags, skin products, etc., you'll find benefit in this final stop.
If I had to sit in hours of traffic or be in the midst of hundreds of other tourists for this tour, my opinion would have changed slightly, simply because that would have been a level of frustration. Our guide mentioned that this tour can take anywhere from 2 - 3 hours, and we were 2 hours start to finish. For us, this was the perfect way to visit these temples!
I cannot rate the tour as waited for 2 hours in vain. What a shame as I was really looking forward to this. The Rendez-Vous point was Sathorn pier. This is a huge place with a lot of traffic and passage of all sorts no specifics point was given. I had an information guide on the pier to call the tour operator. I was told that someone was coming to collect me but lets say we missed each other.
I did the morning tour and unfortunately it was raining on the day but the tour was still excellent, Guide spoke fairly good English and he was able to tell us the history of the Temples and what things meant and represented. I have done some exploring by myself around temples but didn't know what the history or what I was looking at. Doing it with a guide and others was great fun and more informative.
Temples beautiful and amazing !! Price for tour good but it is a three hour tour. .A little rushed at sites not given 15 minutes to wander after hearing about Temple from guide as on other tours. Our tour guide was difficult to understand. After rush rush at temples we were brought to main purpose of trip for tour guide...sales commission...brought to a gem /jewelry factory showroom which is on a highway in the middle of nowhere with scores of other tour buses . we were unceremoniously stuck with a number sticker, then herded like cattle at end to walk through rip off Jewelry factory/shop at high prices. seemed like that was the most important stop. Did get a free ride out of the Jewelry factory shop by our guide to MBK shopping mall at least.
This is a very, very poor tour - although we got to see everything on the itinerary, it felt like a taxi service between the temples rather than a guided tour our guide did not speak much English and didn't tell us much about the actual temples!. It didn't last half a day - more like 2 1/2 hours including, as other reviews have said, a final stop at a gem factory which is a bit of a horrible experience in and of itself see below.
The guide 'Nico' was 30 minutes later he said he'd phoned the hotel to let us know, but we didn't get a message... and then dropped us off at the first temple with the bare minimum of information, without going in or even near the temple with us. He kept repeating the same story about young men commuting into Bangkok from the suburbs rather than telling us about the place we were going. We had to consult the guidebook when there, which I luckily remembered to bring along to find out what the temple was all about! We felt a little rushed around Wat Pho and the only real information we gleaned was at the Marble Temple, where he seemed fixated on an old Buddha image outside rather than anything else in or around the temple complex.
Finally, got to the unwanted stop of the gem factory in the middle of nowhere, comparatively, where he left us with a woman who clearly gleaned we weren't interested she stopped the sales pitch after about 30 seconds, but followed us around the whole place regardless at a short distance behind us, but without saying anything at all - creepy!. Thankfully, we managed to get dropped off back somewhere relatively well-connected.
A rip-off can't believe Viator has such a bad tour complete with creepy sales pitch at the end. Do they check these things?
Too much time spent inching or parking in heavy traffic, and not enough time at the temple sites. Plus we were not aware that we had to rush to a gem store that we had no interest in visiting, and that was not mentioned when booking.
Otherwise, the guide and the driver were nice people.
