Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park

This popular California state park is best known for the centuries-old Redwood it houses. The tallest tree in Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park towers about 285 feet tall and is 16 feet wide, while the oldest trees in the area range from 1,400 to 1,800 years old. Visitors can explore the Redwood Grove, located in the main park area, using a self-guided nature path and see other old-growth trees such as Douglas fir, mandrone, oak and a stand of Ponderosa pines.

Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park boasts about 20 miles of trails with terrain varying from forest to chaparral. Catch and release fishing is allowed in the San Lorenzo River during the steelhead and salmon season, typically from November through February. The park has a picnic area, nature center and bookstore.
