Mývatn Nature Baths

Iceland’s natural hot springs are world renowned, but while the beloved Blue Lagoon is crammed with day-trippers from nearby Reykjavik, the Myvatn Nature Baths remain a pocket of tranquility, hidden away in the less-visited north. With waters bubbling between 36°C and 39°C (96.8°F-102.2°F) and an idyllic backdrop of looming volcanoes and the famous Lake Mývatn, a visit to the baths is the perfect way to soothe tired limbs after a day of exploring the surrounding volcanoes and glaciers.

Saunas, heated pools and massages are all available to visitors, who can also reap the health benefits of the mineral-rich waters – the man-made lagoon makes use of the run-off from the Bjarnarflag geothermal borehole nearby and is full of natural silicates and volcanic micro-organisms renowned for their restorative and relaxant properties.
