Departing Rome, you will travel through Umbria to Assisi and join the millions of pilgrims who arrive each year to pay homage at the home of St. Francis. Steeped in medieval tradition, Siena's Gothic buildings will also entice you on your next coach stop.

Art and architecture, paintings and sculptures, museums and galleries - let the Renaissance-inspired city of Florence captivate you before you make your way to the Shakespearian city of Padua. The town was the setting for Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew.

Spend the last full day of your travels navigating the canals of Venice, composed of more than 100 tiny islets. Take a gondola ride or lose yourself down narrow winding streets.

Reisplan:

Day 1: Rome, Assisi, Siena, Florence (D)
Departing Rome, you will travel by deluxe coach to Assisi. Stop in this mystic town for a panoramic visit of its Basilica and the church of St. Maria degli Angeli. Departing, Assisi you will travel on Italian superhighway (Autostrada del Sole) enroute to Siena. Surrounded by ancient walls, this medieval city is famous for its Piazza del Campo, a splendid square shaped like a shell where the famous "Palio di Siena" horse race takes place each year. See also the elegant Palace and the Cathedral. In the afternoon proceed to Florence for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Florence (B, D)
After breakfast at the hotel, embark on a morning city tour appreciating the artistic beauty of Florence. You will view the Dome by Brunelleschi, Giotto's bell tower and the Baptistery. Next it's onto the Piazza della Signoria, Palazzo Vecchio and finally the church of Santa Croce. Enjoy the afternoon at your leisure before dinner and overnight in Florence.

Day 3: Florence, Bologna, Padua, Venice (B, D)
Head to Bologna after breakfast and enjoy a guided tour through this elegant city and its extensive arcades. Pass through Neptune Square and view King Renzo Palace, the Podesta Palace and San Petronio Basilica. Continue to Padua this afternoon. Next you will travel to Venice for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Venice (B, D)
After breakfast at your hotel, take a fascinating tour of Venice. Admire the St. Mark's Square, Doge's Palace (external) and visit one of the famous shops selling Murano glass. This afternoon is at your own leisure before dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Venice, Montepulciano (Tuscany), Rome (B)
After breakfast you'll venture to through Tuscany. Famous for its fine wine production, admire the ancient castles surrounding the picturesque landscape. In the well known town of Montepulciano, sample and stock up on local wines before returning to Rome where your tour concludes.
